Transfer Audio Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Xperia Z5 Compact to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the “status” bar down on the home screen, and ensure the connection is set to “Media device (MTP)”
  3. Open an Explorer window on the computer and locate the desired audio files
  4. Copy the files from the computer, and transfer them on the phone storage (preferably in the “Media” > “Music” / “Notifications” / “Ringtones” directories
  5. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray, and safely disconnect the phone from the USB connector

Change the General Ringtone:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Tap “Sound” under “Device”
  4. Under “Ringtone & vibration”, tap “Phone ringtone”
  5. Tap the “Music” icon and choose the desired ringtone
  6. Tap “Done”

Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be stored on the phone’s internal memory or the SIM card.

  1. Open “Phone”
  2. Access the “Contacts” tab
  3. Select the contacts to which you want to assign a custom ringtone
  4. Tap the “Edit” icon shaped like a pencil
  5. Select the desired ringtone from the “Ringtone” drop-down menu
  6. Tap “Done”

Change the Notification Sound:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sound”
  3. Scroll to “System” and tap “Default notification sound”
  4. Select a notification sound (NOTE: Audio files recently transferred to the “Notification” folder will be listed at the bottom)
  5. Tap “Done”
