Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider in the quick access panel to the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Device
  4. Tap “Display
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  6. For screen timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Disable Connectivity Options when Unused:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features, including Hotspot, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” tiles to disable the features
  3. For additional GPS options, go to “Settings” and tap “Location
  4. Next, tap “Mode” and turn on “Battery saving
  5. To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, return to “Settings
  6. Then, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the feature to OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More
  3. Tap “Mobile Networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Choose “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your apps’ / accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Personal
  3. Tap “Accounts” and select an account
  4. Turn off the desired sync options

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can perform regular background processes, and thus they can affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device” and make sure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  3. Select the desired application
  4. Tap “Force Stop” to turn off the app
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall

NOTE: Another way to remove an app from your phone is to open the apps drawer and then drag & drop the app’s shortcut on top of the “Uninstall” area.

Keep the Software Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements, and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Open “Settings” and then scroll to, and tap “About phone
  2. Access “System updates
  3. Verify if a new update is available, and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply any available updates. NOTE: This process will require a reboot
