Transfer Audio Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Sony Xperia XA to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer and locate the desired audio files on the PC storage
  4. Copy and transfer the audio files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Ringtones” / “Alarms” / “Notifications” directories
  5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Change the General Ringtone:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Sound & Notification” > “Phone ringtone”
  4. Select the desired ringtone
  5. Tap “OK” to confirm
  6. Optionally, you can enable or disable “Also vibrate for calls”

Change a Contact’s Ringtone:

NOTE: You cannot set custom ringtones to contacts that are located on the SIM card or the phone’s internal memory.

  1. Launch “Contacts”
  2. Tap the desired contact and tap “Edit”
  3. Press “Menu” > “Set ringtone”
  4. Select the desired ringtone and tap “OK” to confirm

Change the Notification Sound:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sound & Notification”
  3. Tap “Default notification ringtone”
  4. Tap the notification ringtone you want to use
  5. Press “OK” to confirm
