I used to have a Sprint PCS phone. In 1997 I finally went to a different carrier. They were bought out, and finally became Alltel. I am very happy with Alltel.

Unfortunately, without becoming a Sprint customer, I have once again become a victim of POOR Sprint customer service.

In late March, someone opened a Sprint PCS account using my personal information. Sprint launched a fraud investigation shortly thereafter, but approved the account anyway.

I found out about the account a few days later because I received a bill. I promptly contacted Sprint, the credit agencies and the police. I filed a police report.

I followed up with goodle and the phone numbers on the call records. I also recorded the voice mail message and the answering message from the thief's alleged home phone.

Finally, I contacted a private investigator, and pinned down who the person who stole my identity was.

In spite of NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS, including writing to Sprint, walking into a Sprint Phone Store, and calling Customer Service, I have been unable to get Sprint to 1) close the account, 2) acknowledge that fraud occured, 3) have the Sprint fraud department to contact me, and 4) have Sprint stop sending me past due notices.

I feel like I'm dealing with a brick wall. This organization is terrible to deal with.

I certainly hope that if you do get a Sprint account, and you do need customer service, that your experience is better than mine.

I'm hoping that by posting this to the web, it will help to wake Sprint up.

    Thanks for reading this.

I believe you can take Sprint the court if they will not close the account. It was created fraudulantly, and they allowed it to take place. My best advice would be to call up Sprint right now and threaten to sue them. Tell them that if they do not complete your requests that you will have to take them to court. If they don't complete your request, then you can take them to court and sue them.
Here is some of Sprint's contact information I pulled off their corporate site:
    Sprint PCS
    6160 Sprint Parkway
    Overland Park, KS 66251
    (800) 829-0965
    (816) 501-6827
