My LG TP1100 display (both inside and outside) has died. The phone still works however. As my contract is up I was thinking about leaving sprintpcs. Can my phone book be transferred to the phone of a different cell phone service provider?

If not, any suggestions on how to retrieve my phone book?

    Kind regards,
    -Giles

If you phone will support Voice Command service, (not sure it will since it is a much older model) then your phone book would also be stored on the web and easily transferable to your new phone. Check with CS and see if you can use Voice Command on this model.

If U are moving to another CDMA carrier [Verizon, Alltel...] they may be able to transfer your phone book.

Re: transfer phone book to different service provider?

I have a similar problem; wondering if anyone may have some insight... I have nextel currently as my provider but have recently (and am waiting for in the mail) purchased a palm treo and am going to be changing over to alltel service. My current phone with nextel is an old-fart motorola i760. Here's the real problem - I dropped the phone, so the flip screen on the inside is blank - no display at all. I can only see the outside display of time & recent calls. I asked the alltel rep if there was a way to transfer my phonebook from my SIM card and she said alltel doesn't use SIM cards in their phones. Nextel is telling me (probably because they are mad at me for leaving their service and, oh yeah, they SUCK which is WHY I'm leaving after 8 years!) that they can not pull my card out and transfer it on to a database or some sort of spreadsheet to print off my contacts... Basically, they said, I have to go in there and they can put my card in another phone they might "have in back" and I can write down all my contacts. Or, I can pay the $100 to get my phone fixed since i don't have insurance because when I tried to get some insurance on the phone they told me no unless I upgraded my phone! WHY would I upgrade a phone I had for only 3 months?! Apparently the insurance has to be put on the phone at the time of purchase (or within 30 days) or you are screwed until you upgrade your phone and/or plan. The jerks USED to let you change your plan whenever you wanted without changing your contract. They have given me nothing but trouble for the past couple years - especially since merging with Sprint - and I am sick of giving them my money for a service that does not suit my needs. They can blow me. Does anyone have ANY insight as to how I might be able to gain my contacts back without having to spend an entire afternoon writing them down in their store?! Or, do you know if there is a spot within the treo that allows for a SIM card that might be able to transfer my contacts over? Thanks a lot for your help.

    Data Pilot by Susteen.

The Palm should come with a Data Cable, so you would would just need to buy the software with the Motorola Data Cables. Runs about $15 - $30. I know Best Buy stocks these. You can also try eBay.

As long as the phone powers on, you should be able to use the software to retrieve your phonebook.

The software is actually very easy to use, has great pictures and walk-thrus. Once the phone book gets exported, you can save it, re-upload it to your Palm, print it out. Whichever works best for you.

This is the easiest way to do it. $30 may seem like a lot to use once, but it's a small price to pay to get all of your contacts back.

    Goto my Sticky http://cellphoneforums.net/nextel/t235307-iden-links.html
Scroll down to iDEN phonebook Manager and use that tool.
If that dosent work, most likely nothing will.
