Actually Sprint's purchase of Nextel has not been approved yet. Wait another 6 months or so until it goes thru the FCC, DOJ, SEC, Congress, and the 50 states as well as International regulators.

But they are working on interoperability of the iDen and CDMA networks so that you should be able to PTT between them sometime soon. Technical feasibility has been demonstrated. It is just a matter of putting it all in place.

The bigger the merger the longer it takes to get the thumbs up from everyone. If someone gives a thumbs down the merger might not go threw.
Sprint is buying Nextel not Nextel buying Sprint.

Sprint is thinking about getting rid of the wireline local telephone network they have if this merger happens.

Here is something I think is interesting

NYNEX bought out Bell Atlantic to become Bell Atlantic
Nations Bank bought out Bank America to become The Bank of America
Norwest Bank bought out Wells Fargo to become Wells Fargo

I guess getting the name will make your image better??
