Hi,
I ported my number from Sprint to tmobile today with two days left in my contract. My question is, when do the carriers consider charging the early termination fees? Is it after I have closed my service with Sprint or as soon as the number is ported?
I did not think that the number would be ported so soon (took about half an hour). I was also under the impression that I would still be under the Sprint contract till I activated my cell phone with ported number on t-mobile?
Thanks for the help.

Once a start a port process they can charge you ETF or until they account is closed depeding on the provider.
One thing that I recommend is take T-mobile for a 15 trial. In 10 days see if you get the coverage you need from them. Some people will port and not take a trial offer and endup finding holes in important places for them. So if you like T-mobile by the trial offer then start the port process and cancel the 1st number you had with T-mobile is what I recommend. The best provider gives you a plan with the minutes you need at the right price. The coverage that you need to make calls all the time.

Always wait till the contract is over, not "almost over." You may be charged ETF.
