Hi all, I have a PCS phone that is on a two year agreement. I've had it since July 2005 (8 months). A friend of mine wants to sell me his Treo 650 for a very good price. I know that I need to have a minimum of one year continuous service to qualify for the $75 New for You rebate, but if I buy the phone from him I don't need the rebate. My question is will Sprint allow me to transfer my service to the new phone without penalty ??

    Thanks for any info.

As long as your friend's Treo is branded for Sprint service, and his bill is completely paid, you will have no problem transferring your service to the new phone. This will not renew your contract unless you make any changes to your plan. Of course, depending on what you have now, you might be needing to add one of the Vision packages to your plan, which will renew the contract.

Now, as far as the $75 rebate, I'm not 100% either way on whether you will retain your eligibility or not, but I know that if you have your phone insured through your plan, Sprint will not insure the used Treo. The ESN swap takes up to 4 hours, and I have been told that sometimes they charge for it and other times they don't, sorry I'm not really clear on that one either.

As Stated By Brad All Is Correct Except One Thing. You Will Lose You Rebate. It Will Restart. And As Far As Insuring Goes Just Dont Break The Phone In A Month. (then It Will Be Covered.) The Erp Goes Off Of The Phone On File. Which Is Why Sometimes When Someone Breaks There New 8300 And They Put There 8100 On The Subscription Temporarily The 8100 Is Replaced. When They File The Claim. Another Word To The Wise Is Dont Put Another Phone On The Subscription Until The Claim Has Been Filed.
