As long as your friend's Treo is branded for Sprint service, and his bill is completely paid, you will have no problem transferring your service to the new phone. This will not renew your contract unless you make any changes to your plan. Of course, depending on what you have now, you might be needing to add one of the Vision packages to your plan, which will renew the contract.
Now, as far as the $75 rebate, I'm not 100% either way on whether you will retain your eligibility or not, but I know that if you have your phone insured through your plan, Sprint will not insure the used Treo. The
ESN swap takes up to 4 hours, and I have been told that sometimes they charge for it and other times they don't, sorry I'm not really clear on that one either.
