Hi - hope someone might be able to help on this. I'd been off-contract with Sprint for about 7 years and last month was able to get a SERO 2-year deal.
At the time I did not buy a new phone...I've had a Sanyo 4900 for years- but
now want to upgrade to a Treo.
Sprint reps I tried to ask about this today could not speak english clearly enough to understand or answer my question but what I need to know is the best way to get the most $$ off on a new phone - I am eligible for a modest upgrade amount yet the initial suggestion I got from the SERO person was that I was entitled to a major discount - What's the best route to take to get the maximum upgrade discount - be it through rebates, promo codes etc...and can anyone advise where I would need to look to find current offers/deals?
Thanks!
Mike

Re: Sprint SERO - Phone deals??
you are eligible for $150 off the retail price of the phone, any phone. Plus any mail in rebates that are offered by certain phones. But if you go to a Sprint Store, you will not get any more discounts and you have to pay an upgrade fee.
Call cancellation department. Tell them you want to cancel. The first question they ALWAYS ask is, " Why do you want to cancel your acct?"
(remember your out off contract so no termination fees apply) Tell them that you can get better deal on cingular treo 750 (example) and they have it for $150. He's make you an offer, but dont take it, yet. Tell him that they also offered you (cingular) monthly discount and promissed to wave the activation fee if you were to switch with them. he'll make you another offer, and this is when you take it. If he does not make you good offers, tell him that you'll think about it and will get back to them. Call again and do the samething with someone else in the cancellation department til you like what they offer you.
important note: CANCELLATION DEPARTMENT is the only department that gets paid to keep you as a customer and will try their best to keep you, other than them, nobody really gives a @%$&@% about you. Others just want you to get a phone with them so they can get their commition.
GOOD LUCK.

Re: Sprint SERO - Phone deals??
Thanks - I seem to have gotten what they originally promised today - Called about a dozen numbers and eventually someone with SERO/Telesales (I think)
allowed me to get the online offer for a Centro at the 'new user'/promo price (with rebate) of $99. - This - I was told - called for a 2-yr contract on the Phone- separate from the already existing 2-yr agreement that started in 11/07 when I got the Sero plan but didn't buy a phone at the time... In any event, at least I'll be able to give it a 30-day trial once and for all -Hung up on whether i want that or a 755p.... tough call... Appreciate your feedback and advice.

@Vox1, I dont know what your reply means...
But iden364 is correct, I bought this process off ebay for $10.
I got a $300+ phone down to $75. Free overnight shipping, activation waived...

Re: Sprint SERO - Phone deals??
I remember I had wasted my upgrade eligibility and could not get the razr 2 when it came out. I had to pay retail (about $450). So I called them and told them I was gonna cancel cause I wanted that phone and I was not gonna pay retail, cause If i was gonna pay that much, I'd might as well pay for the cancellation fee.
1 and 2 person said " we are sorry to hear this but theres nothing else we can do" I told them I'll just think about it.
The 3rd person gave me the 2 yr price ($250),waived activation fee, and also gave me a $75 credit to my acct. I was pushing to so he can waive the shipping/handling but was not possible. (like $12)
