    ^ I dont know what insurance or phone you are talking about,
    but my Treo was replaced no charge some months ago;
    My co-worker said same just the other day.
    I think free is cheaper than $300 plus for new phone.

    Sprint insurance which is handled by Asurion, used to be separate hence the $4 and $7 prices. The difference was the $4 was called Equipment Service and Repair Program (ESRP) and the $7 was Equipment Replacement Program (ERP). The two programs eventually merged into $7 Total Equipment Protection plan (TEP). The ERP ( if you still have it) and the TEP plans both cover water damage and would have to pay a $50 deductible unless you have a smartphone which they changed recently, you would have to pay $99. The only time you do not have to pay for the deductible if it is mechanical failure that is assessed by the sprint techs. Everything else stolen, lost, water damage, physical damage costs $50 or $99. If you do not return the damaged phone which asurion will ask for unless lost or stolen, asurion will charge a $50 non-refund for not returning your broken phone ( stupid I know). Best bet if you are absolutely certain is broken, stolen, lost and it does not have nothing to do with the software of the phone is just to call up asurion. At the store they will tell you, you could have phone looked at by the techs which could take up to two weeks for the assessment, but if its pretty obvious they will just tell you to call asurion (after waiting in line for hours, I know stupid).

    What you mean the same price? The price tag you see are subsidized price for new customers signing up for 2 years or upgraders.

    Can I go to the sprint store and possibly get the new Samsung Instinct if I have to pay a little more?

    If so, how much more could I expect to pay?
    NO. phone damaged will be the one replaced. A different phone would require you to upgrade through the store at the cell provider.

    You can only walk into a Sprint and have that phone replaced at no cost if the problem is electrical or mechanical within the Sprint Warranty period (usually 30 days). If outside of 30 days, you will have to file an insurance claim and pay either a $50 deductible or $100 deductible. That depends on the type of insurance you have and the value of the type of device to be replaced.
