    Available from Sprint retail stores on June 6, Best Buy and select Wall-Mart stores, The Pre will sell for $199 from Sprint after rebates and a two year service contract. The full retail price without a contract will be $599.

    The Pre is made of glossy plastic and is relatively small. The Pre measures 3.9 inches tall by 2.3 inches wide by 0.6 inch thick and weighs 4.76 ounces. The Pre responds to your finger instead of requiring a stylus.

    The Pre offers good call quality and wireless options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

    The Pre's new Palm WebOS combines application cards with a number of dynamic animations and special effects. Web Browsing requires the pinch and zoom motion while viewing pages.

    The Palm Pre uses several gestures in order to navigate within and between cards.

    The Pre's Palm Data Transfer Assistant is a one time importing app that can grab your contacts and transfer to PC.

    With the Synergy system, the Pre automatically sets up your email, imports and consolidates your various email contacts and syncs you’re various Calendars as well.

    The Pre's Universal Search feature is initiated by sliding out the keyboard and typing from the home screen.

    The Pre's WebOS Classic will allow many native Palm OS software titles to run. It will be available at launch from the Palm App Catalog with a free trial period.

    The Pre's App Catalog:
    The video player supports a variety of formats including MPEG-4, H.263 and H.264.
    The music player app supports mp3 files, unprotected AAC, AAC+, AMR, QCELP and WAV formats.
    The Palm Pre comes loaded with Google Maps and Sprint Navigation (based on TeleNav).
    The Pre's Photo browser is slow and stutters.
    The Messaging app displays SMS, MMS, and IM all in a single, unified threaded view.

    The Pre supports POP3, IMAP, Microsoft EAS messaging, systems and IMAP IDLE for a near real-time push email.

    The LCD is a HVGA, 320 x 480 pixel resolution touchscreen that supports up to 24-bit color.

    The Pre utilizes a QWERTY slide out keyboard.

    The Pre includes built in Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g that supports WPA, WPA2, WEP and the 802.1X.

    On the Sprint Pre, EVDO Rev A. data is present and provides a potent wireless broadband.

    The Pre comes standard with 8GB of fixed internal flash memory. There is no provision for memory expansion.

    The side mounted micro-USB port is used for Media Sync Mode appearing as an iPOD device which only supports music and video via itunes;
    Or USB Drive mode to access the internal storage and drag and drop files. While either of these modes are in use, the Pre cannot receive calls or text messages.

    The Palm Pre has a 3 megapixel camera with a small LED flash lamp. The camera cannot record video.

    The Palm Pre has a user replaceable 1150 mAh lithium-ion battery.

    The Pre charges via MicroUSB behind a flimsy little door on the righthand side.

    The Pre is fitted with a standard 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack.

    The Pre supports Bluetooth v2.1 +EDR and the associated A2DP.

    There are additional accessories you can purchase for the Pre, including the Touchstone Charging Kit.
    The kit costs $69.99 and includes the Touchstone dock and Touchstone back cover.

    · Speed: Some tasks are slow
    · Lacks video capture
    · Lacks several Bluetooth profiles
    · Lacks memory expansion
    · Lacks IR feature
    · Lacks virtual keyboard
    · Slider keyboard opens too easy
    · Touch screen responds to your finger instead of requiring a stylus
    · The top row of keys is placed fairly close to the bottom edge of the Pre's slide, so they can be difficult to hit.
    · Hard to find apps in Launcher
    · Cannot set the sounds on most alerts like email and SMS
    · Plastic phone is a smudge/fingerprint magnet
