I really want info about this guys!
I really don't know where to post this, but I do need some sort of help and willing to go to a great length on how to.

I am currently on virgin mobile and I have a couple of sprint phones that are not in use and would like to be used

Know I know for a fact you can use some certain sprint phones on boost. And pretty much boost and virgin are like brothers and sisters.

Now before you tell me a big fat NO! please make sure its pretty accurate. And if you know any kinda sorta information please lead me the right direction. Your help is greatly appreciated no doubt. Because google is being right now. And most forums don't tolerate this.

So if I have to unlock the phone or flash it, It does not matter has long it can be done!

    Again thank you

Re: Unlocked or Flashed Sprint phone...

Well the short answer is maybe, the long answer is this:
Boost is primarily on the Nextel network, virgin mobile is CDMA. Sprint postpaid is CDMA but on Sprint towers.

Virgin mobile was aquired by Sprint with a few towers, so Virgin still runs mostly on its own system, just maintainted by ericsson, the company that maintains all of sprint's assets.

It has to do with the internal antanea, and the internal software.

Try craigslist. There are folks on their that can flash it over to Virgin for you.
If you PM me the Sprint phones ESN I can have the lock codes for you by tomorrow night.
I don't need anything else, just the ESN and I can get it for you.

Once you have the lockcode you can manually program the phone on the virgin mobile network.

I cannot guarantee that anything will work other than voice usage on those Sprint phones.

The reason is, that most phones have built in software for roaming offnetwork, but only voice is guaranteed when you roam.

Data/text (which is data) is a whole different beast and each network/tower uses its own security methods, so thats why I can't guarantee those features would work.

Sprint uses 2 items for your phone calls in regards to security.

The first is the PTN (phone number)
The second is the MSID (its like a network authentication tool and syncs things like your voicemail and helps prevent cell phone cloning)

So all you would need to do, since Sprint has aquired Virgin Mobile, is hope that Virgin now uses the MSID method.

So I can get you the MSL (Master Subsidy Lock) and you call Virgin mobile and give them your ESN to activate on their network.

During activation they might say something like, sorry that phone wont' work, etc.

Just ask them for your MSID.

With that you can simply type in ##MSL# into your phone (replace the MSL with your lock code)
Then hit Edit, then type in your VIRGIN MOBILE # in spot 1 (usaully says MDN/PTN)
Then type your MSID in the ens slot (it usually says MSID)

    Then hit ok, then DONE.

Then your phone will restart. once its on check it, does it work? Then you're set. If not, then there is your answer.

PM me if you want the MSL, I have access to the data base in the AM.
