What do you mean by "mini-tower"? Do you want some type of repeater to improve the reception?

As far as I know, those devices that Sprint has aren't compatible with Virgin Mobile phones. There are other devices that will work, but they are costly.
The lack of replies might be due to the lack of details in your first post. If you explained the situation a little more there probably would have been a reply sooner.
Did you find another provider that gets good reception in your area?

I have heard that Virgin Mobile (and other Sprint Mobile Virtual Network Operators) aren't prioritized the same as Sprint, but I don't know if it was ever confirmed. Is it possible that your Sprint phone is roaming? Sprint offers roaming, but Virgin Mobile does not, and that could cause a difference in coverage.
I'm glad you found a provider that is working for you. What phone did you get?
