I'm new to all of this. I have had a "dumb phone" for many years. Let's say I become a straight talk customer and purchase the Samsung Galaxy Precedent which runs on the Sprint network...
In my area 44460 Sprint stinks. I need to use Verizon but the Straight Talk smart phone that supports Verizon in my area is the LG Optimus black $329...too expensive for me. Would I be able to purchase the Samsung Galaxy Precedent $129 and unlock it to use the Verizon network here? I know this sounds very lame but I'm new to all of this. Any info that you can give me would be a great help.

No.
The Samsung Galaxy Proclaim uses Verizon Wireless' network. There are also some basic flip phones that use Verizon Wireless' network on Straight Talk.
The LG Optimus Black uses Sprint's network.
