Not getting voicemail notifications on Straight Talk iPhone

Oddly it fixed itself a few days ago. I did not change anything on the phone. Only thing that happened recently was updating iTunes.

I'm glad it is working properly now.

I was having the same problem of no notifications. I realized very recently that i had not completed the final step of unlocking my phone. After you get the unlocking approval email from at&T, you need to backup your iphone on itunes, then go the "erase all contents" under settings->general->reset. Then you will see a message on itunes saying your phone has been successfully unlocked. Then you can restore backup. Previously, I had not erased all contents and hence, my phone was never really unlocked.

Once i did this, i went to a t-mobile store and they tried their sim in my phone to confirm that the phone has been unlocked. After that, i put my straighttalk sim back in and now started getting voicemails.

So I dont know what did the trick for me, but i guess here's information about a couple of things you can try.

What you have here are great information. Yes, I tried Google Voice and it also works great.

I had tried the steps that you mentioned above to do this and ended up having to exchange my phone in a apple store. Bad thing is I still do not have voice mail notification and I had to drive 2 hrs to the store.

The voicemail icon stopped working on the I Phone 5c. Therefore, the only way to get voicemails is to hold down the "1" key and put in the passcode. Prior to today, voicemails were accessed by pressing the voicemail icon and entering the passcode.The service provide is Straightalk and they have been no help. Apple referred me to Straight Talk. Any idea how I can get he icon to work again?

hi, I just stumbled across this thread while trying to figure out what's wrong with my iPhone 4s. We use straight talk and hadn't problems until I messed with the phones. Last week I had both mine and my husbands phones unlocked thru AT&T. Since the unlock we no longer receive voicemail notifications. When I go to my voicemail button where I would normally dial in, I just get a plain window and no option to call into it. The only way to check it is to dial my own # and log in that way which is a pain.
