General Question about Symbian O/S

Aloha!

I have a basic question regarding Symbian operating systems: is all software specific to the version and edition?

E.g. I have a Samsung g810, Symbian v9.2 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 but notice no software that indicates compatability w/FP1 (some for 3rd edition). Does this mean it's incompatible, or does any software that supports S60 3rd edition work?

The main thing you want to know with software compatibility is

1. OS version of Symbian (Series 60, Series 80, Series 90, UIQ)
2. and the edition (2nd, 3rd etc...)

Feature Pack (FP1, 2 etc..) usually doesn't have a bearing on the software working.

Some software is specific to a certian phone because of screen and hardware specs.
