Pay-as-you-go plan fits contract phone?

Does anyone know if the T-mobile phone with a previous contract can be used as pay-as-you-go? I got this Sony Ericsson T300 cell phone from my friend but didn't know if I can simply buy a payasyougo account to use. Besides, will the phone number be different if I activate it?

If I'm not mistaken it's just a matter of changing sim cards, considering the phone is already t-mobile

That is correct Griffzan..........
Also if you cacelled your contract already that means your phone number went along with it so yes you will be assigned a new number.

You will definitely have to setup a new acct with TMO2GO. Although they use the exact same SIM card (there is no PostPaid SIM vs Prepaid) chances are the SIM you have cannot be reactivated. The SIM Starter Kit at a Retail store is $50 for the SIM and 2 hours of Airtime valid for 60 days. Go to EBAY and get a Preactivated SIM from a reputable dealer (high post count 40-50+ min with high percentage rate Nothing less then 95% approval rating) That will run you about #13-$15 max. Then when it arrives call TMO2GO Cust service and have them put it in your name. Boom done. For an in depth look at Buying TMO2GO SIMS off EBAY CLICK HERE They have alot of good advise on Prepaid deals.

So you can buy any unlocked phone and just insert your prepaid SIM card into it, and it magically works? If it doesn't you just go to t-mobile.com and download all the features. Right?

Yup, any unlocked gsm phone will work however if the phone isn't supported/sold by T-Mo then you will have a little trouble getting help. Basically, if you get a phone that T-Mo doesn't have, then you'll have to depend on the tech department having some knowledge about that phone.

yes it will magically work.

And yea, get a phone that would be supported by tmobile ull be able to utilize tzones much better. Since 850Mhz has already started in some areas, a phone with both 850Mhz and 1900Mhz will be best for tmobile prepaid. 1900Mhz only phones will be good in urban areas
