Um, well PTT isn't supposed to be used in delicate situations. I mean, I just started using it for like a week on my Nextel and I like it. If I had a private matter I needed to discuss, I wouldn't chirp-chirp somebody especially while walking down the street. There's some people that could live without PTT, but to me it's no more annoying than someone using their speakerphone.

I think the only reason I don't find speakerphones around me as annoying as chirps is because the conversation actually sounds real. With nextel it's a bit more robotic as you have to:
1) Speak
2) Wait
3) Hear the chirp
4) Hear the other person
5) Hear the chirp again
I will say though, that I do find a speakerphone tuned up TOO loud rude.

When using PTT (or Direct Connect) one has to use common sense. I wouldn't chirp someone with delicate issues/information because people around could hear. I do find that it can be economical, if you have a great plan as during the daytime you won't have to sap up all your minutes. For me, it's great when I want to get a piece of info, shoot someone a quick hello and don't feel like texting that person--you don't know if that person have a txt plan and they might be annoyed with getting charged for the msg.
