If I were to buy an unlocked phone like the razor from amazon.com how do I keep my phone number and phonebook from my previous phone which is the motorola v300 [the old one]? The reason I want to go through amazon is becuase I have a friend who can get a discount. How would this work can someone explain it to me please. Also how do I know if these people are legit? The phones I am thinking of getting are these:

Your phone number will stay with your sim card where ever it goes. Your phonebook will also as long as you copy your contacts over to the sim.

Well not every phone has a sim card, only GSM phones(T-Mobile,Cingular, AT&T and unlocked) and IDEN(Nextel and Boost). The V300 sim card is located under the battery and as long as the Razr you purchase is T-Mobile then your T-Zones should work with no problems. If it is a unlocked Razr then you will need to call T-Mobile CS and get them to send the conf. settings to your phone.

Does t mobile cs have a problem when you call them to send the configure settings to your phone? Is it hard for them to do it? The reason I can buy it from amazon becuase my friend gets 70% off.

no problem. it's not hard at all to do. only thing is that you will not have a warranty if it is not a t-mobile branded phone.

on the other hand, if you were to get a pink razr straight through t-mobile, it would have a limited 1 year warranty.
