T-MOBILE Network set up

hi i am from CAlifornia...and i have a T-mobile phone....but in the network bar it display that CINGULAR....may be T-mobile use cingular network... but some T_mobile phone doesnt have that ........it has T-mobile display in network bar... So how can i do that mean changed the display to T-Mobile from CINGULAR.and my mobile shows the roming sign also..plz tell me how can changed it.

Might be that TMO bought out the old Cingular towers where you are. Or it could be that you are actually roaming. You shouldn't get charged for roaming and TMO doesn't have the 51% calling rule, so unless it really bothers you don't worry about it. If it is truely on cingular's towers and you are roaming then the phone is doing it's job correctly. You can always manually select your network to tmobile. But then you will restrict roaming and have less coverage.

are you using a unlocked phone or have a old sim?

Sometimes if you are using an Unlocked Cingular phone and trying to use it with a different provider it might still say Cingular.

I had the same problem.

But to make sure, i would call T-mobile and make sure you arent roaming.

Ya i am using a unlocked phone and new sim........ i know i dont charged for roaming but u know when i am using T_Mobile but the cingular logo is appear it looks ODD........some people did fixed with software named YAMP ...beta release 4.0 and P2K Tools .but i didnt find the software ........so can u tell me by which software i can do this.........plz
