Moto Rizr Z3

Hey guys,

I heard T-Mobile will launch this phone on the 12th in BLUE. looks like a solid phone, I've been wanting one with a better camera than crappy VGA so hopefully this is the ticket. My question is I'd prefer it in the RED color, if I buy a red one off eBay is there any difference between that Rizr Z3 and the official one T-Mobile will release on the 12th? Would hate to get an old version or something...

Re: Moto Rizr Z3

I would just get it from ebay since the phones have no major difference and ebay is cheaper. On top of that, if you get an unlocked z3 from ebay, you will be able to use it oversea as well.

Re: Moto Rizr Z3

Just keep in mind that if you get an unbranded version you will need to configured it to be able to send picture messaging and use the browser as well as T-Zones.

I wouldn't say E-Bay is necessarily cheaper.
The Rizr averages anywhere from $220 to $300 on E-Bay, with T-Mobile most likely will be $150 after rebates....don't quote me on that.

Re: Moto Rizr Z3

hey Tony,

Thanks for the reply I was wondering about that... how much trouble is it to do? Can i just stop by a tmobile store and they'll set it up or is it a huge process with an unlocked one to get it setup properly?

I definitly do want to picture message and tzones and such, would like full functionality as if i purchased it from tmobile (locked to tmobile)

Yes T-Mobile will help you configure your phone, or you can just use the T-Mo Configurator and that will have your Rizr set up in no time, if after that you need further assistance you can always come back to us and we'll help you with that.

Here's a link you you can take a look

You have to be aware that you will not be able to config any phone on the t-mobile website. Sometimes, you have to give up some special service features in order to have a better lookin or better functions unlocked phone.

No matter what, getting a phone from a t-mobile direct store WILL be the more expensive way, plus they do not always have the phone you really like. However, buying an unlocked phone else where, like Ebay then take the phone to some t-mobile stores, they will give you cash or credit rebate. After all, This Is The Cheaper Way.

You say one cannot configure a device with the configurator, i've done this with an unbranded Razr v3, Cingular branded unlocked v3i, unbranded Krazr, unbranded Rizr ( which is the topic at hand) European Razr v3x, Cingular branded unlocked v600 and the list goes on, i haven't had any problems so far, i'm not saying it's 100% fullproof, but it does work even with unsupported handsets by editing the settings manually.

you're also saying that it's better to buy the unlocked unbranded phone from E-Bay because T-Mobile will not give you a rebate thus making the phone cheaper? How did you come about with this equation?

Because I personally own 2 cellphone stores in New York and all other dealers do the same thing which is giving out rebate to those customer who use their own phones for brand new activations.

You should visit the cellphone stores in new york sometimes.
Thanks

Hey Tony,

I'm looking into purchasing an unlocked LG KG 800 to replace my Motorola Razr. I can't seem to get the configurator to work. Any ideas?

So in other words you're illegaly giving out rebates for phones that are not even T-Mobile branded by using other handset IMEI's correct? yeah i know how that works.

I've visited New York cellphone shops, nothing special, same thing we got here..

Let me also remind you that the OP's question is about the red Rizr's difference between the unbranded version and the T-Mobile branded version..
not about illegal rebates...so you need to stay on subject.

I agree with Tony here, I'm not quite sure exactly how to respond to this. You must be mentioning "some" t-mobile stores and only meaning indirects. No corporate store is going to allow the issuance of a cash/credit rebate based on customer using their own equipment. Thats not something I have heard of in a very long time in this business. Not to mention, the borderline illegality that it conjures up in my mind as well as the unethical. You are cheating the system by doing this and well thats fine and ok for plenty, its reprehensible.

I'm also not sure how you come to the conclusion that getting a phone from a t-mobile store will always be more expensive. Are you ignoring the subsidy cost, the fact that there are plenty of occasions where the invoice price is still less than the prices found on various, well known unlocked websites on the web.

I guess I just want some clarification on your points here so I can better understand why you are making the statements you are.

Obviously, your information is out dated. T-mobile rebate system can recognize your device's IMEI number and they will be able to tell exactly what model you use. The illegal way you think you know has stopped working for a long time. Some indirect stores just share part of their compensations with their customers by giving out cash rebates. Maybe I have made it sound really complicated before.

Yes, I meant indirect stores. No corporate stores will issue cash or any kinds of rebate to their customers, that is why they suck and if you don’t mind getting ripped off, you can continue buying phones from them.

You should really visit the Asian cellphone market, they have the best deals.

Just for your information, Chinese indirect stores on north coast generate around 68% of the total sales for T-mobile. I am wondering how they are doing so much better than others and the corporate stores as well.

I am aware of the forum’s topic, but it is good for some people to learn something everyday, correct?

Tell me something i don't know, obviously when you register the phone's IMEI number you will also register the same IMEI on T-Mobile's data system.

As far as outdated info? you come here telling members that they cannot get a rebate from a corporate store? where are you getting your info from?

I'll tell you what i know though, ask the person that was posting prior to you on behalf on your company to stop registering under multiple usernames ( "Goweagle" ring a bell ??? ) or both of you will be banned....no more warnings.
