sidekick 3 for cingular...

i know this question has been asked many times but my qurstion is a little different... okay sidekick 3 for cingular. could you just get the hiptop 3 by danger and sharp instead of the sidekick 3 for t mobile? that would work for cingular right? ive seen a bunch on ebay...

As long as you buy it unlocked it should be fine on Cingular.
Also, it should be quad-band too, as Cingular uses 850

and if i get the one by sharp thats not for t mobile i can text message and get on the internet and stuff? as long as its unlocked?

meh maybe ill just get the iphone when it comes out. sidekick takes too much.

False to a point... ANY isnt the word.. A GSM unlocked phone can be used but the sk3 from tmo cannot be used with ANY other carrier unless you want a big ugly bulky phone (sk3) for making calls only. You can also text. Call and text. that's it. There's no Danger server on Cingular/AT&T.

all this is besides the point because getting an unlocked sk3 will be next to impossible seeing as tmobile wont unlock them under any circumstances (sorry world travelers)

tmobile's policy is very strict against unlocking the sidekicks.

I have an sk2 which I bought that was supposed to be "unlocked" and it doesn't work and due to the return policy, I cannot return so I'm stuck with it. Can anyone help?

**Be careful when buying "unlocked" from eBay as they may not always work! You'll end up like me, at the mercy of someone kind enough to help you out!!!

I did the same thing and ended up purchasing a T-mobile Sidekick 2 prepaid sim card to go with my SK2. I love it, it works for phone calls, txting, internet and everything. Its the only way to use the sidekicks as they are intended, is to go with T mobile. I still have my cingular plan and phone, but I love my sidekick also, so I have BOTH!! LOL

I want to clear up some confusion here... the SK3 is a T-mobile exclusive, but there are carriers in the USA who sell HipTops which are essentially the same thing (from Danger), and if you had an unlocked SK3 you might be able to reprovision the data settings to use with a carrier that sells HipTops, such as SunCom. I just called SunCom to double-check and they said as long as the Sidekick is unlocked, the SunCom Store should be able to set it up to use the HipTop's data features (but no, Cingular doesn't sell or service HipTops so they're out).

i work for tmobile if you could not tell , tmo will not unlock them. it is a tmobile only phone, however it might be able to flash it , but the net will not work..sorry
