In recent one month, both of my tmobile family plan phone receptions have a very strange problem. Here are some facts make it SO STRANGE:

    (1) This problem ONLY occurs at my house. Both phones work excellent at office, on the road, and any other places.
    (2) Both phones get FULL BAR reception at home.
    (3) Before July this year, no any problem (for ~10moths)! This problem occurs in recent 1.5 months.
    (4) Problem: With 70% probability, the reception ONLY at my home is bad. Most of the time the call goes through, but I can not hear clearly from the phone: the voice is extremely distorted (it sounds like an ET is talking). The other party actually can understand what I am saying, but with a little distortion.
    (5) When this problem occurs, I have to wait and re-dial. Sometime after 3-4 retries, the voice becomes good. But sometime it never recovers.
    (6) My house is two-story, in typical residential area without big buildings. This problem occurs inside my house, either downstairs or upstairs. Sometime outside my house (havn't tested much).

    Possible reasons:
    (1) Interference? - Either from neighbor cordless phone or some other special devices nearby? But this should not happen.
    (2) Bad phones? - But why they work fine at other places.
    (3) Tower problem? - Called Tmobile CS many times and they said tower has no problem. CS has no clue what problem this is.
    (4) SIM card problem? - Can it become a problem?
    (5) ...........

Anyone has similar problems? What might be the other reasons? I haven't have chance to ask my friends to have a test in my house. But I think I should do so.

Thank you for going through the post! Any comments are welcome!

Honestly... the truth..its just the strength of your signal where you are at. The quality is so poor that its lacking in signal strenth

Thank god someone else is having a similar situation, but my provider is AT&T.

    Here are my issues:

-My issue only occurs in my house despite having FULL reception.
-Happens to about 70-80% of calls
-Never had this issue prior to about the beginning of July
-Have now been provided a replacement phone and problem occurred on the same day I got the new phone.
-SAME issue occurred with my girlfriend's phone (different phone model entirely, but AT&T)
-Sound that comes through is INCREDIBLY loud and obnoxious. It sounds like electronic signal noises and contains everything from hissing/whooshing to electronic garble.
-Person I am speaking with has no such issues and cannot hear the sound. The person on the other line can clearly hear me even when I cannot hear a thing but the noise.

My provider (AT&T) is useless. Everytime I have called, they run me through the same freakin' process..."take out your battery while phone is on...what color is the dot under the battery?...do the metal connectors on the battery look damaged..."

Switching phone out for 2nd time now. I'll let you know if it works or not.

Thanks and hope to hear good news from your side!

You don't have enough signal strength to hold calls very well. This is a more common problem than most would think! I had to install a cell phone antenna and amplifier system on my roof of my house and it DID solve this problem!

But you need to know what kind of service you have and how to choose the right antenna system! My website in my signature is free and the advice is there to help you choose the right system. I found Wilson Amplifiers and antennas to be the best!

You can read up on all the different systems available, but I think you would be satisfied with a repeater type antenna because these are wireless!

Good luck! This setup worked really well for me since I live way out in the country.
