I have researched and found that T-Mobiles prepaid plan to be the best as far as price per minute, however, all of the phones that they offer are not good for what I want. (The only actual phone with a camera is really ugly)

Is it possible to buy another phone that will work with the T-mobile prepaid minute plans that is simple enough for a person who is not too experienced with cell phone? I noticed that they new offer a SIM card, however, I am not 100% sure what does (Is their like a specific type of phone that it will work on?)

Thanks for all of the help!!!

    Re: T-Mobile prepaid phone help

Thanks for the help! So if I were to buy an unlocked Razr V3 (can't post a link to exactly what I am talking about due to site rules) but just by using "unlocked razr v3" as a search keyword at ebay, any of those phones would work with the SIM card?

All I would have to do is get the SIM card from tMobile and I would be able to use it in the same was I would one of the phones that Tmobile offers with the service?
    Thankyou for the help!

    Re: T-Mobile prepaid phone help

    Hello everyone,

    My first post!

My family and I are planning to visit the US in April to attend a wedding and take a vacation and are looking for ways by which we could use our own cell phones while over there.

I've read duckworth's question about T-mobile prepaid service and Ellen's response about the T-mobile starter kit (which retails online for 9.99 USD). This looks like a very attractive option indeed. However, there is a pop-up window in the T-mobile website which cautions that the SIM might not work on unlocked GSM phones from other providers.

Ellen posted that any unlocked GSM phone would work as long as the phone supports US GSM frequencies. Has anyone here in this forum actually used this service? Your opinions would help us a lot.

Most of our phones are triband 900/1800/1900 MHz.

The other option is Tracfone, which I have used in a previous visit.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
