upgrade plan question

Ok so I have a quick question. Im with t mobile and I currently have a 600 minute myfav plan. Lets say I wanted to upgrade my phone. Could I change my plan as well or do I have to keep it?

Lets say I do have to keep the same plan. I want to upgrade to the sidekick lx. Is it possible that I can just add the data plan to my existing one?

ok so let me make sure Im getting what you're saying

If I upgrade to a sidekick lx, I have to change my plan to a sidekick plan. So that means there is a specific type of plan for the sk and I cant get let say a 1500 minute individual plan with the sidekick data plan?
