LG Secret usage in US with gsm of Samsung SGH-T439

I am considering purchasing a unlocked LG Secret and using the gsm from a Samsung SGH-T439 that has my current plan on it. They have the same gsm I believe, 900 / 1800 / 1900.

I live in the US, obviously, and the phone hasnt gotten over here for some reason.

I am extremely new at this unlocking switching of things. Please tell me if this would work or if not, steps to get onto the right track
