Samsung Gravity: is the aim client like on the Sidekick phones?

I'm thinking about getting the Samsung Gravity and I was curious about the AIM. When you are online does it say you are "mobile" or is it like on the sidekick where it's real aim? Also, on your phone can you see people's away messages and what-not?
