We are already familiar with the small plastic SIM, but T-Mobile's has got a new embedded SIM system that will allow to build smaller connected devices and smart energy meters that will report back to the server. T-Mobile's new SIMs are made of silicon, not plastic and so tiny, which is the size of a pinhead. These embedded SIM's are coded at the factory and mounted right straight to the device, which means, no more installation steps as with the old SIMS.

These are expected to launch within the next 6 months.
