ok ive been reading up at the t mobile site and it looks like they got lower priced plans. i like verizon, but don't like the prices. i like my phone, and the t mobile site says i can use my current phone if its compatible with their network. is my samsung omnia i910 compatible even though its a verizon phone?

now there isn't an official t mobile store in my town. there used to be, but i guess they went out of business. i'd have to go through wal mart for t mobile service. is t mobile a good provider far a customer service like verizon?

See More: switching over to t mobile from verizon. pros and cons?

First things first, your VZW phone will not work with T-Mobile. VZW uses CDMA; T-Mobile uses GSM. GSM and CDMA are different and incompatible technologies. Moreover, GSM uses SIM cards and VZW does not, so there would be no place for you to put a T-Mobile SIM card into a VZW phone. As to advantages and disadvantages, that depends on two things: 1) where you live and travel, and 2) your needs/preferences. If you live and travel in areas where T-Mobile's service/coverage is equal to or better than VZW, then T-Mobile would be the obvious choice. Yet there are few places where this might be the case. VZW, in general, has better coverage; hence, the higher prices. They have a larger and more expensive network to maintain. If I remember correctly, CDMA equipment and networks are more expensive to setup and maintain. All that being said, it really depends on your needs/preferences and where you live and travel. Here is my best breakdown, but note that this very subjective:

    T-Mobile
    + Great customer service
    + Great prices
+ More flexibility with phones (since they are GSM carrier and use SIM cards)
    - Overall coverage is lacking
    - 3G network is small and uses a proprietary band/frequencies, so unless your 3G device is specifically designed for T-Mobile (read = very few are), then you are SOL when it comes to using 3G on T-Mobile
    - Not as many exclusive devices

    VZW (Verizon Wireless)
    + Great customer service
+ Coverage (2G and 3G) is arguably the best nationwide
    + Many exclusive devices
    - While they have a plethora of phones, their selection will almost always pale in comparison to a GSM carrier
    - Have higher prices than the competition, particularly T-Mobile and Sprint
    - Limited flexibility with phones and their polices can be rather restrictive

    I hope that helps.
