Doro 410

I have a Doro 410 from Consumer Cellular. Consumer Cellular told me it was unlocked but when I put a T-mobile sim card in it promps me for a Control Code. What is this Control Code about?

Hi, I work with Consumer Cellular and the reason your phone does not work with a T-mobile sim card is that Doro PhoneEasy phones are configured specifically for Consumer Cellular, and contrary to what it says on Amazon.com, the phone is not ‘unlocked.’ Therefore, some features may not work with other providers or the phone may not work at all. Consumer Cellular can only guarantee that the phone will work properly with Consumer Cellular service. With that said, we would love to have you as a customer at Consumer Cellular! Give us a call at 1-888-345-5509 and we would be happy to activate your phone and get you on a plan with us. Otherwise, we can supply you a code to unlock the phone but you would need to call us. Thanks!

Thank you for your response. I am a Consumer Celluar customer but I have not been able to get the code from them to unlock my phone. At one time they told me that the phone was not locked. I am reluctant to add more lines and get more phones if I can't get them unlocked.

I also called and she didn't know anything about unlocking the phone. She also said the Doro phones aren't designed to work overseas when I said I wanted to use it in Canada. Triply strange because Doro is from Sweden??

As the Doro PhoneEasy phones that Consumer Cellular sells are specifically designed for Consumer Cellular, the phones are not unlocked. Consumer Cellular only provides service within the United States, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands; therefore, you will have to pay international roaming rates if you use the phone in Canada or other countries. We do not recommend you use the Consumer Cellular phone outside of the United States. Thanks!

Hi, since you work for this cell company. Do you happen to know if there is a way to turn off the answer feature when a Doro flip phone is opened? I've seen that feature with Motorola phones before and would hope that given this Doro 410 doesn't have any external text window, some opportunity would be there for me to open the phone to see who's calling BEFORE answering. TIA
