I checked the forum first and it seem this is a question you are not to ask. For all I got was a white blank page.
Now the reason for this question is I own 3 phones by T-Mobile and they are pay as you go.
Now with one not working I decided to lookup my own cell number and what I found makes me wonder if there is a bigger problem here.
The one I have problems with comes back to a person living 40 miles away. So I checked my Father's phone and that one came back to someon living 35 miles away. Then I checked my Mom's new phone and the comes back to a land line in a different state.
So the Question should be do cell phone number lookup's work?
Now I tryed this on four different site and they all came back with the same locations. So I emailed one of them and was told that they get there information from many places. And one of them is magazine, public records. and so on . But have no ides if the information is right or not . Then they sell it to people trying to find out the truth about there own cell phone.
Sure some say they will give you your money back if you don't like there service.Not.
But they will give a free credit.
So before anyone falls for this money making scam it should be told so everyone knows they don't work.
So have you tried them just to see if you are the owner of that phone? Or are you like me paying someone elses bill.

Re: Cell phone number lookup Do they work?

Did more checking on this issue and found that if you don't ask for a new number when you open an account with a pay as you go phone or any cell phone. You maybe getting someone elses old number who is just waiting for someone to place minutes on the phone.
With T-Mobile after you get $100.00 on the phone you get there gold rewards I know all my phones are past that point. But ever if you run out of air time the phone number will still work for 1 year.
So if you get a phone number that someone has not used for 6 month and start adding time to it that person will also see it on there phone. So they can start making calls for free.
The reason the phone stays active for a year with only 12 seconds or less is for 911 calling that has to go through.
Now how would this happen lets say you got a pay as you go for just for getting help but the minutes ran out and you did not know it and did not place any more on for 7 mounth . When someone new purchases a new phone and ask the CCR for a number they look over a list of numbers that haves seen no activity for 6 months and pick one. For they think the person who had that number is no longer using that phone. So now you end up with two different people having the same phone number. I have gotten many calles that because I don't know the number I don't answer it. And had one lady call me and ask me to stop using here phone number. When I asked her how long she had the number she said two weeks I told her thats funny I have it for 8 years. So this is how things get messed up.
As for the cell phone trace it will only come back to the most recent owner of the number.
Hope this helps someone so you don't need to go to the BBB, FTC, FCC and Attorney General. Why would I go through all this with my mother in her 70's and father in his 80's they can not remember a new number now.
