T-mobile customers--Delayed payment and service interruption?

If your t-mobile service has been shut off due to late payment and someone attempts to call you, what happens? Does the caller hear the phone ringing or will the caller hear some sort of message from t-mobile? Also, if your service has been shut off, will your phone even ring? Please help. Thank you.

They do try to contact you with their 800 number. There is never a voicemail left though. When you do get shut off any call you try to make gets redirected to T-Mobile.
