I just ordered 2 new Galaxy s3's from T-Mobile with the free phone special they are running this weekend. I have been with Verizon for years but they are just too pricey. I do not expect T-Mobile to have the same coverage as Verizon but was looking on some input from current customers as to what I can expect? I have not ported my numbers over yet in case I am n ot happy and need to cancel T-Mobile. Cant beat the deal though, 2 free Galaxy s3's and I save almost $50 per month on my bill!!!

You got both of the Galaxy S III phones for free?! That is a great deal!! I'm not on T-Mobile currently but a friend of mine is and she loves it. She used to be a Verizon customer and left for the same reason you did. She says she doesn't regret her decision at all.

Yes both for free!! Thats what lured me into switching. They have a special running the 16th &17th for free Samsung devices including the S3. I had to pay $200 per line up front but will get a $200 per line rebate! Excellent deal that I could not pass up!

That is a great deal!
I'm not a current T-Mobile customer, but I think you will enjoy the unlimited data service they are now offering. They are merging with MetroPCS, so it will be interesting to see what changes come from that.
Enjoy your new phone!

Well I switched to t-mobile for a total of 1 day. Service was terrible in my area and I spent half the day on the phone with unhelpful customer service people! Service has been cancelled and back with Verizon.

Re: Switching to T-Mobile- Thoughts?
I've been with T-Mobile for over four years and have had a very good experience. My coverage has been great; I had 4G often before when others did not. Their unlimited data, text and talk plan is MUCH less than their competitors. Twice in four years I've had to replace a phone. Both times, their customer service was friendly and helpful and they sent me a new phone with a paid-shipping label to return the malfunctioning one. All in all, I have no plans of leaving T-Mobile any time soon.

Yeah I have friends who also have had good experiences as well. Wish it worked out for me. I also thought I would save a lot but only the value plans are a significant savings IMHO. I actually pay less on verizon. I do not have unlimited data any more but I do not need it. If u need unlimited then Verizon is not an option.

Re: Switching to T-Mobile- Thoughts?
DON'T DO IT! I've been with T-Mobile for over 7 years now and they've never had the best coverage (not terrible, but not great), but I lived with it because they had great pricing and great customer service. I'm not sure what happened after the deal fell through with AT&T, but lately the customer service has been terrible and they now treat me like a 2nd class citizen. I have a total of 6 lines on my account and pay over $200 a month and I will be looking to move all the 1st chance I get. Shame on you T-Mobile for being so short sighted...

Re: Switching to T-Mobile- Thoughts?
T-mobile has great coverage in my opinion. They have combined with MetroPCS and a brand new company by the the name of Solavei. Most people are not aware of this new provider but they have merged with T-mobile and are now helping people save money on 4G network. $49/Mo Unlimited calling, text and 3G/4G data. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to save money or even make money from their own phone bill.

Re: Switching to T-Mobile- Thoughts?
I'm a Solavei member and i have to say it is by far the WORST phone company i've ever dealt with. While they are a MVNO of T-Mobile, That's where the service and support ends. I've been without MMS texting for a week and a half while they "Address" this issue. It's not just me. Alot of people are posting in the Support forum about how pissed off they are that Solavei won't fix this, They say it's a T-Mobile issue but if it was it would be fixed already.
Other common issues/problems with Solavei, Many members don't have WEB or text working and it's not a APN problem, It's a Solavei problem.
Their $49.00 plan comes to 57.00 after tax,
They claim iPhones work on their network but they dont mention that if it's a older ATT iphone you'll have practically zero WEB speed. (Data) (Wrong phone frequency's from ATT to work well on T-mobile towers)
So you say call customer service huh?? LOL Customer Service is in Guatemala and hold times are over an HOUR!! Then all they can do is read from a script. They'll tell you a CSR will call back in 30 minutes, That call never comes.. Webchat support is discontinued. Support forum is unmanned by a Tech Support person!! (Sometimes you might see an answer after a day or so.. Or when the support person gets home from his day job and feels like answering something)
Yeah im ragging bad on them but they deserve it.
I actually came to this site to look for other pay as you go options that i can use my unlocked HTC phone with.
I don't really have a problem with T-Mobile, I just wanted to warn people about this before they consider looking into SOLAVEI.
Trust me, Tin cans on a string are better than them.

Re: Switching to T-Mobile- Thoughts?
Wow, 2 Galaxy S3? That's a great deal. I'm not on T-Mobile but might be soon. They have many changes ahead of them and I'm looking forward for all of them, like their Metro PCS merger and their rumored uncarrier approach.
Anyway, enjoy your phone.

Re: Switching to T-Mobile- Thoughts?
So your MMS wasn't down for 14 days? You don't mind holding for an hour to talk to someone reading from a script in Guatemala that you can't understand? Don't mind your questions about a phone issue going unanswered in the support forum?
Glad you're so happy with that. I hold a cell company to a little higher standard than that. When you have a phone issue and need support, Thats when you'll see how good your provider is.

Re: Switching to T-Mobile- Thoughts?
My MMS has never been down. So when they say the problem is affecting a small population I believe them. (Having worked for a phone company on the provisioning side before, I can say that is most likely a T-Mobile problem.)
Sadly, outsourcing call centers is the norm - I honestly don't expect anything different. On the other hand I've gotten prompt answers from the support forums.
It's a bummer you've had a bad experience. With a new company going through growing pains, undoubtedly some people are - but my husband, brother, a couple friends, and I have all had fine service.
