3360 LED stays on ALWAYS? (after brief dampness)

Phone got spashed pretty good with fresh water. Dried it out. Operates
normally, but LEDs remain on always, even after the phone is shut off.
Because of this, battery runs down real quickly.

Is there any hope for me to fix this? Might a new battery work? Help,
please!

I done that once with a Nokia 5110. wrote the phone off.

Problem is; damp residue causes oxidization of the internal components, plus
low resistance between the traces on the printed circuit probably causing
the backlights to stay on.

Nope a new battery wont fix the problem, and more than likely no
service-centres will touch the phone due to repair warranty issues.

Could you claim a new phone on your house contents insurance. ?

Ugh - that's a bad thought. Anyone else had any similar experiences?
