    Why can't I have 2 cell phones simultaneously with the same phone #? Why
    won't they cell me 2 sum cards? I want to have one for upstairs & 1 for
    downstairs . . .

    It's not possible. Two sim cards would do you no good. Only one sim card can be active on an account at a time. So even if you had 2 sim cards only one would be active, the other one would say unregistered sim.

    My biggest question would be: Do you really need one for upstairs and one for downstairs?

    yeah, i think what you want is a landline. or just carry your phone with
    you. that's why it's called a mobile phone.

    The biggest reason you can't have two phones with the same number is, you
