I've got a telus samsung a650 phone and have found a great WAP site with tons of free ringtones. Problem is I can browse the site and download the tones from my browser but they don't show up under my ringtones. Is this part of a telus scam that keeps us from only dowloadin their ringtones or is there something I can do to use the downloaded midi tones as ringers?

I tried to save the midi using the WAP but it doesn't recognise the ringtone from the ringtone memory. How do you sen the text msg from MSN to your phone? And after you send the link how can you access the new ringtone. The samsung has got a menu for ringtones and it only seems to show the ones that are dowloaded from the telus site.

Bump this thread. Is there anyway to save ringtones etc from WAP sites or are all telus customers doomed to download (and pay) telus for new ringtones?

Yeah, Telus only allows you to use ringtones if you download from the.
But I still download midis onto my phone cuz they sound cool, and i can send with msgs to my friends.
I also like the ringtone "sleighride" that came with my phone, so i dont really mind.

Sending the hyperlink to the MIDI file should work if you have an internet plan for your phone.. but the problem you are experiencing with the Samsung thing is exactly that... a Samsung phone thing. You can play the file on your phone as a sound clicp, you just can't save it to your ringers folder.

Re: Telus Phones & Downloading ringtones
Does anyone know if BitPim can get around the Telus restriction on Ringtones?

Re: Telus Phoes & Downloading ringtones
Most Telus phones(95%) will only accept ringtones that are DRM (Digital Rights Management) Enabled. Most websites that you can download free ringtones from do not have the DRM flag set (meaning purchased).
Bitpim can on one or two models (samsungs) change the flag in the phones software to disable DRM flag settings.
One workaround is to try searching for a Sony Ericsson product called DRM-Packager it basically takes mp3 and midi ringtones and sets the DRM flag tricking most phones into thinking the item was paid for....
Hope that helps
