telus' lack of phone selection

I used to be with Rogers but when offered an amazing deal with Telus i took it. I have no other complaints with Telus other than they are lacking in the selection of phones. I've seen some crazy phones from rogers and other companies and Telus still hasn't come out with anything great
ARG
anyone else feel the same way

i have a mike phone. ttelus offers crap for that service, whereas Nextel has tons. I went to ebay and got an unlocked phone. they have models on ebay that telus does not even have listed as options to choose from

I have to agree, Telus is really starting to lag behind Bell and Rodgers in phone selection and coolness factor as well. I want a Razar!LOL

hello, none of you have your locations listed... where is Telus because i never heard of them before i came to CPF and i still don't know?

Judging by one of you saying you got an unlocked phone from ebay, can i assume they use GSM technology? if that is true, then you CAN buy any unlocked GSM phone and put your SIM card into it, which means you are not limited by their selection

try using CPF's search feature to find out more about SIM cards and unlocked phones, everything you need to know is already here, good luck!

sorry Telus is in Canada and works on their own network. This phone company does not use sim cards they work on a CDMA network you cannot buy and unlocked GSM phone and use it on the Telus network and that is why they have a limited phone selection.

so they will not activate another company's CDMA phone either? that is not unusual because most companies won't activate other cdma phones but they might if you ask them specifically,

otherwise you are stuck with what they have.

The reference to a sim card you mentioned was due to telus having not only CDMA service under the "Telus PCS" brand, but also iDEN service which is branded as "Mike" here. The unlocked phone from ebay was either a Nextel, Boost, or Southern Link phone.

As for phone selection, Febuary should be the release of the CDMA RAZR phone for both Telus and Bell in Canada. Don't think its the same phone on rogers now though, the one on rogers has already being phased out by GSM carriers elsewhere. The V3c is the one we'll get (and rogers will eventually get the V3i)Also there is one high-end samsung or LG scheduled for Telus in the first quarter of 2006. I hope its an LG 8100 because I like LG's but its more likely to be a samsung from what I'm hearing...

What exactly is it that Nextel offers that we don't have here? I can only think of the i605 (I have one btw), but the rest is all older low-end stuff.

Do you know if the Samsung T809 is coming to Telus? That phone looks just as good as the Razr. I'm looking though for a non flip phone for work.

i agreee that telus ahs **** phone selection, but i am stuck with another 2 years on my contract - i picked up the LG 6190 when it was brand new and although the phone is still good and working fine, i just tired of flip phones.. but the LG 8100 looks pretty nice and the features make up for it being a flip. lets hope telus brings some new phones in
