I need help please.

I just talked to Telus Mobility in Canada and the rep told me that I can use the Nextel or Boost I875 on the Telus Mike network but I need the phone to be unlocked. I am going to buy it off of ebay but I just have a couple of questions. The rep seemed like he was mad that I asked him this question and told me that problems with my service can arise if I use an unlocked phone from the United States. He said things like my voicemail can fail and I can get bad reception. Is this true or is he just lying so I don't purchase this phone? Has anyone heard of problems happening with the service or the phone??? Thanks to anyone that can help me.

Paolo C.

to be honest with you! that rep don't even know what he's talking about. you cannot hook up nextel phone to telus network.
1. telus is a cdma service provider don't have sim on there phone.
2. nextel and boost is iden. have sim on there phone.
it;s not gonna work all the way!
check verizon cellphone which is capable to telus network.
before buying it off ebay ask the seller the esn number and give telus a call if they can hook this esn number to there network.

Check telusmobility.com, click on products and services, then click on "Mike"

As for Erwin, yes you can use a Boost i875 (that's what I'm using now) or a Nextel i870 on Mike but if you buy one off ebay, expect to have only net alerts working for you. Your text messaging, picture messaging, and browser will NOT work 99% of the time unless the seller specifically states that it has been setup for Telus. The only true drawback is that you won't have support from Telus reps because you're using a foreign handset which goes against their policy (but that's what we have these forums for ).
If you're looking for an almost new i870 fully setup for Telus I have one for sale (check the for sale/wanted section if you're interested). Sometimes you see these phones go for as cheap as $280us on ebay but good luck getting them over here without another $50-$80 in duties, $30-$50 unlocking fee, and then you still have to get somebody to setup your phone for Telus.
