I have the Motorola i530 on the Telus Mike Network. If I buy an unlocked Motorola i875 from EBay can I use it on the Mike Network? Can I take the SIM out of my i530 and plug it into the i875?

my Motorola i530 is so boring .. I NEED SOMETHING NEW!!!
Anyways, the i875 looks pretty sweet. Since I'm stuck on th Telus MIKE network for another year and a half (contract ), this looks like a fantastic phone.

Telus does sell the i870 now... the keypad is different and the menus aren't quite as fancy but at least you can do software upgrades. My i875 can't be upgraded... most boost phones aren't upgradeable actually. The new software upgrade improves memory card access significantly. You can find used i870's (usually in like new condition) for around $370-$400CAD and you won't have to worry about possibly getting nailed with duties by bringing the i875 over.
BUT if the gold/champagne colour of the i875 really appeals to you, or you really want the nice looking boost menus, you can order it, but get a datacable so that somebody can make the TXT messaging and WEB work on the phone... by default, an unlocked phone will give you net alerts only, no MMS, no WEB, no SMS

ahhh... what a drag eh? You can get an unlocked i875 on Ebay for 229.00 so i was really hoping to get one (and it seems like a nice size) ... but, with everything disabled ... that is a drag. I'm glad that someone was actually had the info to actually answer my post. Thanks!

How do you enable everything?

You must not have too much ebay experience... even in the US you'll pay $283.53US for that phone (shipping is $40 and insurance is another $13), they might charge say $15 more to ship to Canada (IF they ship to Canada) so now you're looking at $302.53 then you convert it to Canadian and you're looking at about $348CAD... IF you're lucky you won't get charged duties, if you get shafted you could get another $20-$60 on top of that.
...and if they use UPS it could be as much as $120 in duties... any Canadian ordering from the US needs to make sure UPS is NOT used under any circumstances. They are by far the WORST company for us to have to deal with when it comes to duties/customs/brokerage!
I enable everything by modding the codeplug on the phone and entering the Telus servers instead of the default Boost ones.

There is another guy out there who is selling it for $229 with 25 shipping. His run ended and I'm sure it will be replaced. We have over 300 + unique positive comments on our ebay account. I won't get charged duty as I have my stuff shipped to a relative who lives just over the border from me. Seems like a fantastic deal to me, except that it's not configured properly for telus.
Here's the ended one I was looking at: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...DME:B:RTQ:CA:1
So, your on Telus and you have a completely configured i875? Are you doing this by hardware, or, is it programming steps you are using??? I think I would like to get one, seems like a really cool phone, and we haven't had many cool phones on the telus mike side.

The other one you just linked would be great in the US but terrible if you were getting it shipped to your house because its UPS (probably $100 in duties).
Its all software reprogramming. You just need to have a datacable and a copy of RSS to transfer the data back to the phone

Is this something you would have to have in your hands in order reprogram?
Do you think it's worth the effort? Seems like a nice phone (specially compared to the i530).

You need a datacable, once you have one, I won't ever need to touch your phone.

Yeah no prob.
I love it the phone! I mean... I personally think it looks better than the Telus i870 (I didn't like the gold/champagne colour at first but it started to grow on me). The menu is the big seller though! Its too bad Boost phones don't get the same updates to the software as the Telus/Nextel versions do, but the menu just looks sooo much nicer right off the bat that its worth having slower card access (which is one of the big things that they improved with the new software release)

Awesome!! Now your getting me excited about it ... just imagine having the i530 I have right now ... then upgrading to the i875.
Ok, time to narrow this down to the best deal.
