I got the 6265i from Telus. I really like the phone now that I have unlocked all the features, and changed the icons back to nokia original. It took a little getting used to as I had used motorola exclusively in the past, but overall a really nice phone.

#3 | | Newbie | My observations/opinions: - The display, though gorgeous, is impossible to use without backlighting. Ambient lighting lets you see absolutely nothing on the screen -- and of course, keeping the backlighting on sucks the battery dry.
- The touted 2 megapixel camera is pointless due to the orange-spot problem (well documented in other forums.) I don't expect to do family portraits on a cell-phone cam, but who wants ANY photo with a big orange stain in the center?
- The slide is annoying and a bit too loose. Normal phone use and keying activities cause it to move too much. And unlike Nokia's high-end sliders, this one has no viable thumb-point to make it easy to open and close (the tiny ridge tacked-on below the display screen is virtually useless with adult-sized hands.)
- Tough to find a decent case for it. The mfr's website does not seem to offer a dedicated case for it, and the aftermarket accessory companies are mainly marketing products to fit either Motorola's & Samsung's flat/slim flips, or the common egg-shaped flips. A case for this phone is essential due to the always-exposed display screen and camera lens, and a proper fit and design are important to prevent always yanking open the slide while pulling the phone out of the case with two fingers.
- Earpiece and ringer volumes are barely adequate for use out in the noisy urban world, and microphone placement on the underside of the phone gives my outgoing voice a muddy/echoey sound compared to a conventional flip with the mic placed directly in front of the mouth.
It doesn't seem that the major US CDMA carriers have adopted the 6265i and you won't find any reviews on it on cnet.com (at least not as of this date) -- guess those should have been my first cues.

#4 | | Newbie | Deseagle, can you tell me how you unlocked all the features. I've been looking for that for days. I want to use my own MP3 files for ringtones and it's not allowing me due to activation key restrictions. Can you please help?

I agree the backlight has to be used, but I haven't noticed any major drain on the battery. I leave my phone on all the time, with heavy usage, and usually get 3 - 4 days out of a charge. All of the pictures I have taken with this phone have turned out great, no orange dot, much better quality than the pos motorola I had before (v710).I happen to like the case I got with the phone, yes I have to take the phone out of it to use the camera...so what, that means the screen and lens are protected when I am not useing it, and as for pulling it out, try pushing on the bottom...slides out nice and neat. I drive truck for a living and have no problems with volumes at all. Over-all I much prefer this phone to the list of motorola phones I have had in the past.

#12 | | Junior Member | Looks like I'm in the same boat as Deseagle. I used to be Motorola exclusive, just had a v710. Now I have the nokia 6265i which im very happy with. The pictures are great, I don't know what hes talking about when he says theres an orange dot in the middle... The slider is cool too....you're not going to 'accidentally' open it because its not that easy to open. the charger is the main difference between the v710 and the 6265i though...the moto chargers suck ass...you have to wiggle it around before it charges. but the nokia 6265i charger works perfectly. i recommend it.

#15 | | Member | I like the phone. Pictures are nice (for a cellphone), but video sux....then again....the phone is not a digital camera, isn't it? I love the screen and the slider. All and all it is highly customizable and fairly easy to use.
Negative sides for me are the low volume on the earpiece (you better buy the special bottom-connecting adaptor if you want to listen to mp3's) and some issues finding the proper case.
It is fairly easy to unlock all the features locked by TELUS, by using Diego software. The instructions are out there (in this same forums).
Cheers! | | | |
