Basement Apt. -> Best Reception?

I live in a basement apartment and have always had proiblems to one degree or another getting decent reception. Currently I have a Samsung A670 and the antenna is starting to get spottier in it's reception...

So I'm thinking of forking out the cash to replace the danged thing. Since I'm halfway through a 3-year contract with Telus (I know, I know. Don't berate me. First and last time I'll do a 3-year..), I'll be paying full price, so more than ever I want a phone that'll give me decent reception.

My job also has me in all sorts of places and situations both in the city and travelling to odd places. Reception is a heck of a lot more important than MP3 playability, canera resolution, etc..

Anyone have any advice to offer about various Telus phones and their reception? Specifically in situations like a basement apartment.

I would go with a Motorola V710 for the best reception with Telus. I've sold quite a few of them and that's one phone that people will really agree that the reception is solid with. As a general rule Motorolas seem to perform best that way, so if you want a V262 or a Razr would probably work pretty well too.

Amplify your indoor reception with a cellular repeater kit. Check www.wilsoncellular.com or www.cellboosterstore.com for some examples. You'll need to know what band your provider uses in your area, 850mhz or 1900mhz because the dual-band repeaters are either very expensive or unavailable. I got one from the second link provided, and it has greatly improved my reception throughout the house except in one back bedroom. I believe if I had spent more money and gone through Wilson, I'd have reception throughout the house, but I was trying to save a dime and still got a pretty decent product IMHO.

Thanks for the advice you two. Looks like it'll be some weeks before I can make any decisions. Work's moved back to just a couple of shifts a week until filming stops so I've got to tighten my belt for a bit.

Still, that just gives me more time to explore options.

Id Definately go with the v710 i have one and there is absolutely no problems with reception wherever you go. even into cement hockey arenas.
