I've recently bought a 6265i with a Telus contract just to notice that the Application Install feature (over USB cable or BT) was disabled. Finally Telus confirmed a few minutes ago that they intentionally block this feature on the 6265i, just to force customers to use Telus's "over the air" app install. Of course, I felt really bad (and explained them) they didn't mention anything upfront about the fact that the 6265i was in fact a stripped-down 6265i. But Telus representatives, after 3 escalations, up to the DNA dept, were still not able to come with any constructive solution, invoking again the company policy.
Of course, it's a bad policy, I told them, to let customers think they buy features they actually don't, especially that Telus' main advertising strategy is to propose the advanced phone models. Now, I need help, to find a way to unlock this feature on this phone, I don't know if anyone ele experienced this kind of issues and was able to overcome them.
