Hi, first have to say, it's nice to see a forum where I can get answers or to read about news on the cellphone front.

My question is regarding what happens if you decide to go month to month contract after your contract is up for renewal? Someone told me that if you don't lock it up for 1,2 or 3 years Telus can at anytime change the contract on you.

I've been with them for about 7-8 years and I'm on an old contract that is charged by the second and evenings at 7pm. That is the only reason I've stuck it out with them the last few years, the per second billing.

My contract is up in February and I also want to get a new phone. I know I can get a phone cheaper by signing to a long term contract. Or I can suck it up and pay full price on the phone and stay month to month and switch to Rogers if I change my mind down the road.

Hmmm, i dont think that they would switch an bait you now bro, they usually carry on after a contract expires an carry it into the month to month scenario like you have now.

Imho, i would suck it up like you said an pay full for a phone, and have it activated on your present account, then you own the phone outright, and are not locked into anything you do not want.

Secondly, when the wnp comes about if one of the other providers matches your plan, gives you the coverage you need an service, you can switch without penality like if resigning an getting a phone on the cheap now.

Dont do it len, buy it, own it,walk where you want to walk.

Btw, you should in for some sweet retention deals if you do resign a contract with telus.
I like thier service an coverage ALOT, phone selection is not stellar an this is thier worst fault, its too bad that this will prob cause telus the highest churn at the time when number portability comes into play, and not thier services.

Which keep me from the other providers in the first place, balancing books on errors.(Couple other famous companies did this for awhile, it eventually caught up with them lol.)

Peace an sorry for the long winder.

Ya I think I will either buy the phone outright or just go with a 1 year contract.

I went to a Telus cell store and asked them if Telus can change a contract on me if I stay month to month and she said no, they will only call if they think another plan might be better.

But I don't really know how much they really know because I asked her if it was true that LG's chocolate phone was coming at the end of October, and she just laughed and asked what that was

Anyways, I was told that Telus' new phones will be coming out in November so I'll wait until then as I don't like any of their current phones.

Yeah, i think she was right man, they wont switch ya unless they talk to you first atleast.

Sometimes telus an other providers leave thier front line staff poorly informed of thier new services an phones, its not the poor girls fault imo, just a shortcoming of how information takes time to bleed down i'd say.

Make sure ya pop back and let me(us) know what you do get an if you plan switch or other.

    Peace
