text messaging lock

Hi, I just bought a phone off ebay. Its a I835 from nextel. its unlocked there is no problem with my actual sim card from telus. The only thing taht is wrong is that I can't send any text message. I can received message but i don't know who send it. Also internet browser doesn't work either.

You might as well get a new phone from Telus. I had an i355, that I bought from them, and after 6 months of fighting with them and taking the phone into their repair shops, their only response was that the phone was set to text only in the US and that I had to buy a new phone if I wanted to text. I finally gave up arguing with them and got a different phone (the i580), but before I left the store I made sure all the "Telus approved" functions worked. I am seriously concidering cancelling all my Telus contracts (7 phones) and going to data phones on Bell. Just another instance of Telus screwing over the customer.
