I recently purchased an LG Chocolate Slider (VX8500) from Telus, and I noticed that it has a rather short battery life. I searched the internet and found out that it could be because my phone is constantly searching for an EVDO signal and thus draining the battery. Certain solutions were offered, such as hitting menu, pressing 0, then entering '000000' as a password then accessing a hidden menu which allows you to change to either EVDO or 1x. Another method was typing ##program8500 then hitting send, and typing in the '000000'. I've tried both, but neither work, and for the sake of my battery life i'd like to figure out how I can disable this feature.
