I'm an old guy looking for help. My family plan contract with Telus is over and I'm wondering if it's possible to convert my existing phones to a pay-as-you-go (same carrier) with automatic credit card payment and accumulated minutes (we don't use a lot of air time). Phones are Samsung a650, don't need bells and whistles e.g. text messaging, web access, etc. Where do I go and who do I see? Will the retail outlets handle this?

Any direction is much appreciated, thanks.

i would say the best bet is go into the retail outlet as the reps on the phone are more often slightly retarded. the reatail outlets should be able to do this for you no problem, though you might get dinged with a couple "activation" fees... but if you complain enough they will let it slip. good luck!

For anyone who happens to cross this thread, I'll answer my own question. Yes you can convert a plan to pay-as-you-go after the contract has expired but Telus also offers a dirt cheap plan to anyone who has completed a contract which includes system access and 911 but not taxes for $15 a month (I think it was called Talk 15). For infrequent users like me, its another option which avoids some of the hassle of managing Pay & Talk.

You need to call Telus customer service to get this deal (its not offered through self-service and they only mentioned it after I requested Pay & Talk which means they can squeeze a few extra pennies out of you with this plan over Pay & Talk).

hey.. im new here. i tried to cancel with telus or asked if i can because my dad was willing to put me on his plan which was cheaper. & because i called on a sunday the guy on the phone was telling me that they actually have cheaper plans for me but i gotta call on a weekday and ask them. so i called back mon and the damn woman said theres no cheaper plan than the one i have. wth? arghh.. so i was wondering, what are the airtimes minute included in the plan? so i can call and complain.. and hopefully get this plan. because i don't even use my phone anymore.. i keep it for emergencies... and to pay $45 a month with taxes and everything is crazy. thanks
