Virus

Is it possible to send a virus to a phone?

I have an LG4600. I have had it for two years and am quite disappointed. I have 7 months till the end of my contract. Recently my phone began to glitch. It would turn off and not allow me to turn it on. As well it was almost impossible to access the menu or click the 6 button. When I would open the phone it would dial 666 randomly and it began to call it. When I would click the 9 button it would show up as 96. When I went in to Telus to fix it they told me the only think I could do is call Telus and ask if they could give me a new phone if i renew my contract or just get a Pay-and-Talk phone and add it to my contract. So I brought in a phone and activated it for a fee of $25. Once this happened my old phone was deactivated. As soon as this happened my old phone began to work perfectly. No glitches, no random calls and all the buttons worked.
It looks like Telus is sending a virus to phones causing the owner to have to purchase a new phone and renew their contract.
After my argument with Telus, they activated my old phone and returned my money as credit.

Re: Virus

In the first place, there are cell phone viruses. These viruses spread through internet, bluetooth or MMS.
However, in your case it doesn't sound like a virus, but more like a problem with the keypad of your phone. The most likely cause is that you got it wet one time. The 'switches' in the keypad start to short out partially, and your phone starts doing funny things. After a while when most water is gone, the phone starts functioning again. Until the switches are corroded enough that the buttons won't work at all anymore.
