I am visiting Japan... tomorrow and at first everyone was telling me not to text people here in Canada while over there because it will be very costly.
I have unlimited texting so would I still be charged?
Also would I even get service in Japan?

Re: International text charge?
About the only phone that will work in Japan is one that is WCDMA 2100 capable. The standard GSM or CDMA phones will not work.
There are some Dual SIM international phone options available that you may want to look into since it is almost impossible to buy a pre-pay phone in Japan.
As far it being expensive (although a moot point if your phone does not work ) I do not know about Telus but AT&T charges are 50cents per message sent or received from outside the US back home.
Hope this helps.

Re: International text charge?
If your on a texting bundle you'd get charged .10cent a text for international, if not it can be from .15-20cents.. Hope that helps
