First post, so my apologies if its in the wrong place.

My current Telus phone (an LG chocolate) is pretty much almost dead since the flip wore out over the last few months, so I'm looking for a replacement.

In browsing the Telus site, a few phones have caught my eye:

    Samsung Slyde m540
    Samsung A523
    LG Dare
    LG VENUS

Just wondering what your thoughts were on these phones in terms of reliability, ease of use, etc. or if you folks have any other suggestions. I do a decent amount of texting so the keyboard features on phones like the Slyde seem like a good idea compared to my previous non-QWERTY phones.

All depends on what you want to do. If alot of texting is what you want to do then yes you should look at a phone with a qwerty keyboard. The slyde is free on a new activation and 3 year term and the curve is $50 (I think) for the same term. The pearl is also an option if you want a free phone. It doesn't have a full keyboard but has all the functions and benefits of a blackberry. Hope this helps a bit.

I was in the same situation as you, but I checked everything and to me, I ended up picking the Samsung Slyde m540. That's my 2 cents, but I really love it (though I'm only getting it tomorow)

Re: Suggestions on new Telus phone

My contract is up in August and I was wondering what Telus phone out there will allow me to add my own ringtones like my LG 8100 uning BitPIM. The poor thing is on it's last legs. My daughter has the Samsung SPH-M540 and I am not able to add any ringtones to it as of yet.
