Hey ive had issues with telus for some time now...I had a phone before that stopped receiving text messages but they convinced me that it was my phone and that i would need to get a new one to fix it. Now i have a new phone, new 3 year contract and i'm having even more problems. It sometimes takes me an hour to receive a message or for my friends to get my messages. I am fed up and i would like to cancel my contract. The problem is ive heard that it costs about 700$ to cancel. Is this true? Do you think that if i say the right things i can get them to bring the price down? I have been told that I could.

The cancelation fees depend on how far through your contract you are. It is the higher of $100 or $20 per month remaining. So if you have a year and 3 months left it would be (15months X $20) $300.

If you have a smartphone and you are still within your first year you would be also liable for a Data Cancellation Fee of $100 as you receive a discount on the cost of the handset so it is charged to recoup the difference.

The cancellation fess are non negotiable, and are written into the contract you signed with Telus. Be aware that the cancellation fees are billed immediately upon cancellation, so you will receive a bill for the total amount owing, and it is due within 30 days of receipt. Telus can and has reported delayed payments immediately with equifax and mark against your credit if it isn't paid.

    Hope that helps

    Hey Rachie1

Hang in there.. telus has been doing work on there text servers for the past month and more so in the past week to update for HSPA. All these issues will pass and your messaging will be better then ever trust me. Its only a mater of a week or so... no reason to spend $700 +++ to get out of a contract!!!

Trust me its not your phone it is the service but its only getting better these are the few bumps in the road on the way to recovery and improvement!

$20 per month x months left in your contract
